At heart I am a front-end developer with a solid understanding of both UI & UX. Complimenting UX with an intuitive UI is necessary in todays abbreviated attention span of the average user.
There are new resources emerging every day that make the life of a web developer quicker and more efficient. That could not be without the constant forward momentum of the open source community. Give back when you can!
Whether it be making friends in a new FPS, grouping up with old friends in an MMO, or learning the ropes in a new RTS, a majority of my free time is spent mingling in online gaming communities.
During my last year in college, I clearly realized that my love for working in the web would indeed prove to be a solid career choice. So I set out for my first actual job apart from the miniscule side projects. This was the beginning!
Internships really helped me hone in on what I wanted to do as a career. Through some trial and error, and much experience learned, I was recruited to begin my trip down web developer lane with Cendyn.
During my tenure at Cendyn I rapidly climbed the ladder from the website builder position to manager of the entire Production team. After a year or so I struggled with the fact that I was not writing code as much as I would like.
The decision was made and an opportunity opened up for me to move over to the front end development team, and it was a great decision for the future of my career. I am much more hands on now, coding all day, and exploring new technologies which is such a thrill. Never stop learning!
After a few years at Cendyn, an opportunity was brought to me to enter the Salesforce ecosystem and build beautiful, performant and accessible communities that bring employers, employees and clients together. I worked with a great team, and continued to hone my skills resulting in a promotion to Senior Front End Engineer.
After 2.5 years working in the Salesforce ecosystem, I decided to make a move into a more modern tech stack by joining the Penn Interactive team to work on the Barstool and theScore Sportsbooks. We use Vue, React, TypeScript and many more technologies that I felt would continue to round out my skill-set. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had in my professional career.
